The collection contains photocopies of correspondence and legal documents regarding the controversy over land titles held by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in western North Carolina. The materials probably were collected by William Holland Thomas III, grandson of William Holland Thomas, who was the first Indian agent for the Eastern Band. The collection also contains genealogical data. The family tree of George W. Bryson and his wife Polly Anna Conley is outlined. The materials in this addition are pertinent to William Holland Thomas and various aspects relating to his work with the Cherokee Indians.
